About the Theatre
Forty years after first opening its doors, the Mark Taper Forum, one of Los Angeles' most iconic public buildings and the artistic heart of Center Theatre Group, received a major interior renovation. Everything from the lobby to the seating to the ventilation has been changed and upgraded. This $30 million project completely replaced the building and theatrical systems with state-of-the-art designs while radically improving audience amenities. As the Taper welcomes new audiences following it's year long renovation, the Music Center celebrates with a Sneak Peek, month-long festival of events from August 16 - September 28th. Visit centertheatregroup.org for more information.

Since it opened in 1967 the Mark Taper Forum has been honored for its development of new plays and voices for the theatre and for its continuing commitment to serve the broadest possible audience. It has received virtually every theatrical award including the 1977 special Tony for theatrical excellence.

The Taper has a five to six play subscription season which usually runs from September to August, and includes one of the highest year-round subscription figures for resident theatres in the country with annual attendance over 250,000.
