About the Theatre
Boasting one of the largest stages in the country, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with 3,200 seats is the centerpiece of this eleven-acre, four-theatre performing arts Complex. Spread over four elegant tiers, with chandeliers, wide curving stairways and rich décor, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is wheelchair accessible and provides Phonic Ear sound system headsets for the hard of hearing.

Before creation of the Los Angeles Opera company in 1987, the New York City Opera came regularly on tour and performed in the Pavilion. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held its annual Academy Awards in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from 1969 - 1987 and again from 1990 - 1994, in 1996, and, finally, in 1999. Since the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra has moved to the Walt Disney Concert Hall which opened in October 2003, the Pavilion is home of the Los Angeles Opera and the Dance at the Music Center.
