| Interim Director Of Blue Ribbon |

The Music Center, Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, one of the nation's premier performing arts institutions, is seeking an Interim Director of Blue Ribbon.
The Interim Director of Blue Ribbon position is temporary for the period June 2012 through November 2012.
On an interim basis the position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Blue Ribbon office, with focus on the execution of events.
Reporting to the Blue Ribbon President the Interim Director of Blue Ribbon establishes and maintains positive contact with Blue Ribbon Board members; liaises and maintains necessary contact with Resident Companies and other Music Center departments. Oversee a budget of approximately $500,000 supervises and directs the activities of one fulltime employee, at times may oversee other staff and volunteers.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Responsible for working closely with Blue Ribbon leadership to help define short and long term goals for the organization and its members as well as initiating actions steps to reach the identified goals.
Ensuring fundraising goals are met each fiscal year along with supporting growth of the organization by organizing solicitation drives for pledges of on-going support from existing and prospective members, including actively encouraging members to submit qualified candidates for membership.
Responsible for conceptualizing and coordination of a variety of events including all related logistic coordination including but not limited to coordination of reservations and seating, special needs request, and travel arrangements for visiting guest and speakers.
Administering and reconciling membership contributions, special purpose Blue Ribbon projects contributions, as well as event-related payments, including preparing and administering, under the direction of the Blue Ribbon President, comprehensive budget and expense projections for the office. Will obtaining proper expenditures approval as directed by the Blue Ribbon President.
Assist President of the Blue Ribbon in scheduling and planning of events and numerous other tasks, as indicated.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- A Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.
- Must possess the minimal of 5 years of event planning experience, non-profit experience is desirable.
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written; with ability to make presentations.
- Excellent customer service skills: diplomacy and tact; approachable; must be very discreet.
- Strong problem-solving skills; effective listener; motivated, enthusiastic; work well with other while under pressure
- Computer savvy in Word, Excel, Power Point and Tessitura
- Flexible work schedule to work evenings and weekends.
SALARY RANGE: $65,000-$72,000 per year commensurate with experience this position is exempt.

The Music Center, Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, one of the nation's premier performing arts institutions, is seeking a Director of Advancement Services.
The Director of Advancement Services (DOAS) is part of the management team under the Vice President for Advancement, reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development. The DOAS provides leadership and partnership and management of business processes, database functionality, data management analysis and reporting. DOAS works closely with the LA Opera and Music Center's Finance and Accounting Departments to ensure accurate communication and consistent data integrity. The DOAS supports all business units use of Tessitura under Advancement, as well as assisting with database use in the Education and Programming Departments and the President's Office. This may include conversion of shadow databases into Tessitura. The DOAS provides analysis and reporting of gift and constituent data and philanthropic trends to the Executive Leadership. The DOAS supervises staff for donor research, data entry and integrity. The DOAS monitors and initiates updates for data protocol and policies on a timely schedule.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
General:
- Acts as the Music Center representative on the Tessitura Steering Committee and advocates for the business uses of the systems by Music Center units.
- Active involvement in the planning and execution of the upgrade of the new Tessitura version 11 for the segment of the database unique to Music Center and cooperatively for the shared records.
- Manages training for Music Center staff as the new version becomes active; as well training on an ongoing basis for refreshment of continuing staff and for new staff.
- Provides timely and accurate reports for Vice President and Associate Vice President on a defined schedule and "as needed". Monitors and reports on fundraising results weekly, monthly and quarterly with year to date comparisons.
- Works closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate reconciliation of gifts and biographical data, using high standards of data policies, definitions of terms and data checking for consistent, reliable data integrity year over year.
- Budget control and management for Development units with monthly reports.
- Identifies, develops and produces the required basic queries and lists for Music Center business units.
- Keeps a current inventory of constituent records on Tessitura.
- Ascertains and recommends resources needed to accomplish tasks and find efficient and automated solutions
- Monitors gift acceptance policies and ensures consistency year over year with Finance Department and the Music Center Foundation.
- Oversees Donor Research to ensure appropriate information is provided for all users, executive leadership, major gift officers and volunteers.
- Supervises all data input and checks for accuracy ensuring reliable data integrity.
BUSINESS UNIT SUPP0RT
Ticketing:
- Proactive in maximizing the value and quality of data introduced into the common system by ticket purchases. Frequent scheduling of data audits and corrections using automated daily processes to identify and fix duplicates and other mistakes and inconsistencies.
- Systematic review of new subscribers and ticket buyers for Major Gift prospects.
- When appropriate, matches ticket buyer with wealth screening ratings.
Annual Fund:
- Provides list management for a complex schedule of overlapping appeals.
- Ensures proper appeal coding and memberships levels are in place and frequently checked for accuracy.
- Collaborates and supports the Annual fund team to ensure they are able to rely on data to be used for direct mail, telefunding and support groups dues, acquisition, renewals and upgrades.
- Tracks volume of gifts entering the system to ensure there are enough resources to keep the data current.
Major Gifts and Institutional Giving:
- Creates a pipeline report on status of gifts in process from donor identification, moves management, solicitations and gifts closed.
- Monitors and reports monthly on gift officer activity.
- Provides customized lists for Prospect Review.
- Oversees production of research reports for Major Gift prospects.
- Assists Institutional Giving Coordinator and Grants Manager in automating weekly reports.
Marketing:
- Simplifies and automates transfer of data for effective use of the system.
- Sets up system for appropriate segmentation of marketing constituencies.
- Enhances website technology and technical implementation of social media.
- Remains current on technical applications to marketing efforts.
Events and Stewardship:
- Leads the effort to automate merging of lists using consistent formatting and protocol for addresses, salutations and titles.
- Leads the effort for effective use of Tessitura for all aspects of event management and train users accordingly.
- Supervises event briefings.
- Automates/monitors electronic calendar for stewardship of donors.
- Reviews and monitors guidelines for listing donor names/recognition in the system.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Possesses leadership skills demonstrated by taking the initiative to anticipate needs and resources and organizing personnel to execute projects needed to support the business units adequately.
- High level of technical knowledge of Business Applications, Program Planning, Information reporting and analysis.
- Experience in gift reporting and data integrity including consistent definition and coding of gift types in the system.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to interpret technical terms and processes to the non technical layman.
- High degree of precision, accuracy and consistency in work product.
- Excellent long range planning skills with evidence of transparency and reliability for completing both long term and short term planning within a specific and predictable time frame.
- The ability to build project teams across diverse departments and programs.
- High level experience and ability to manage diverse projects and staff with a diversity of responsibilities and skills.
- Ability to work effectively and resourcefully in a fast moving environment with a high degree of focus.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Required skills and qualifications include:
Bachelors' degree with 5-7years experience in database administration in a large, complex non-profit organization preferred. Familiarity with Tessitura donor and patron data management system, preferred: or a system with similar complexity required. Working knowledge of FASB and CASE reporting and accounting standards. Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server administration, query generation and data exports. Demonstrated possession of strong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet hard deadlines. Excellent organizational skills including ability to identify priorities; work independently and use logic in problem-solving situations. Excellent negotiating skills with colleagues and vendors.
